Spiritual Magic

THE word magic is largely misunderstood, because there are various kinds of so-called magic, much of which is deception and trickery.

But there is a magic which might be called the unseen and hidden power to bring to pass certain desired results, without revealing its methods. It is called intention.

Its successful use requires a knowledge far beyond any kind of trickery, and is based on an innate spiritual force in man and nature.

Those who practiced it in ancient times were the initiates, the wise, called Magi — the source of the word magic.

  2. So many of the comments on here are nonsense. So sick of hearing from these so called “white magicians” who claim self righteousness and that their magic is not selfish and they are not self deceived. There is no white magick. There is no black magick. There is only magick. Get over it. In the end, all magic is done for selfish reasons.

    • We would agree with what you say about self-deception. Mme. Blavatsky spoke of the 3 steps necessary for aquiring “Self Knowledge”:

“The first necessity for obtaining self-knowledge is to become profoundly conscious of ignorance; to feel with every fibre of the heart that one is ceaselessly self-deceived.

“The second requisite is the still deeper conviction that such knowledge—such intuitive and certain knowledge—can be obtained by effort.

The third and most important is an indomitable determination to obtain and face that knowledge.

“Self-knowledge of this kind is unattainable by what men usually call ‘self-analysis.’ It is not reached by reasoning or any brain process; for it is the awakening to consciousness of the Divine nature of man.

“To obtain this knowledge is a greater achievement than to command the elements or to know the future.”

  3. What is real, what is not. Do you really know. Can you prove it?

    • “The powers and forces of spirit lend themselves only to the perfectly pure in heart, and this is DIVINE MAGIC,” Blavatsky and her Masters wrote. Thank you for your comment!

This is very well said. Intention is where the line is drawn. I can easily take a look at people’s aura, but people ask me to do this only for fun. If I concentrate on the top on that person’s head, my psychic sense cannot stop there. Soon, I’m reading their mind. I don’t want to do that, because it is wrong, yet it happens without my conscious control. It is easy to block their immediate thoughts, but find that I am reading their personal character, and that is against Universal Law. I do obey that law, and obey my Karma. I respect my life, my Higher Ego and my conscience. I am working from the top as my priority, and to reduce the Purgatory time.

Misinterpretation of magic follows automatically with selfishly intentioned persons who do magic. Needless to say, such motives are wrong. What can change the public’s opinion of magic? One thing: a spiritual, and scientific revolution. This should be accomplished as soon as possible.

  5. Thank you for this posting, wonderful…especially the animated short film – powerful! Over and over Theosophy reminds us (me) – it all comes down to what we think and what our motive is. But how able are we to not be self-deceived? How many of us are completely selfless? Probably all of you are…Hmmm…I’m workin’ on it! Grateful to have the teachings as reminder…Namaste All, I love you.
